I took a walk on the SIAL side this week
I saw the paths full of products which were packed, this is quite strange after all the negative communication about packaging these last months. I was expecting to see products in bulk with no packaging ....
Why is that ?
if packaging is so bad for us , why the food and beverage industry continues to use packaging for whatever the type of food : organic,vegan, tasty or indulgent products ?
Is it because packaging provides food protection, preserve food from contamination, enables safe transport ?
The question deserves to be asked ...
then the question of the choice of the raw material rises : plastic is still widely use (bio sourced or not, biodegradable or not) is it due to its convenicence and high barrier properties?
Maybe the time to ask the right question about packaging has come.
